Let's face it - entrepreneurs only start a business for one reason - to produce money. Why would someone undergo all the expense, associated risk, and pain of starting a corporation if there wasn't intend of significant reward? I'm not saying that so many people are money hungry or greedy, but I am saying that the business is there to produce money.

An automotive service shop can be a business. In order to keep running, they need to make money. Most shops hire a salesman, also known being a service writer whose prime duties include writing in place customers, communicating between the customer and the mechanic, some even inspect vehicles while using the technicians, and most important, selling service to ensure company profitability. Like good quality salesman should, they might befriend you and propose services to "help" people out.

Here's what a lot of people don't know about service advisors - they're just paid in commissions. Like some other salesman, the more these people sell, the more they receive cash. Thankfully there are lots of good people out there who truly might like to do you right and save your business. However, for every honest automotive service representative that's out there today, there are 9 more that only care for their paycheck.

The U. S. Economy has seen better days. Unfortunately, as money becomes scarce, more people will lead to any means in order to make a buck. Look in the rise in scams happening today. A prime example may be the lottery scams where you receive an e-mail or telephone call saying you have received a large sum of money, but you must send money first to receive your fake "winnings". Or the hottest "loan scam" where a corporation says they can financial loan you around $5, 000 with bad or no credit, but you must pay the first few payments up entry.

The BBB (Better business bureau) was developed to protect consumers from businesses which happen to have repeatedly done customers drastically wrong. Also, some states such as California took it a step further and developed the BAR (Agency of Automotive Repair), to protect consumers from shady stores. Unfortunately, these services usually just catch the worst of the worst, and a number of shops still get away with bad business.

So what on earth can you do to protect yourself? Find a shop you know about or that has a good rapport with their customers. Even though it can be time-consuming, shop around for pricing to remain them honest. Research and come up with a service plan that suites your requirements. Lastly, always get second or simply third-party opinions, even in regards to that mechanic you have known for many years. Or if you would like a professional to protect you in regards to maintaining and repairing your vehicle, seek out a company like Auto Service Protection. Spending a little more time, may save you big money and hassle.
