I can’t believe Mercedes have finally done something to impress me, which isn’t easy as I don’t seem to like every car that is launched. But when I found out about the most powerful Mercedes Benz SLK is due to come out, I was so interested in it. I simply had to reasearch it and see all that I could find about the new MB SLK.
The new Mercedes Benz SLK 55 AMG is powered by a new naturally aspirated 5.5 litre V8, producing 412 hp. This new V8 engine is able to produce 421 hp at 6,800 rpm and deliver 540 Nm worth of torque at 4,500 rpm. Wow! That is all that you really can say.
The great thing about this new Mercedes Benz SLK 55 AMG is that Mercedes have reduced fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by 30% by shutting down four cylinders when under light throttle responses. The car is also fitted with stop/start which switches off the petrol engine when stationary. Whilst this isn't revolutionary, as many cars are starting to have the same technology built in, it does show the way we as a world are moving forward - environmentally speaking.
When ordering the Mercedes SLK 55 AMG, there are packages unique to the car that can be added such as the Performance Package which upgrades the suspension and brakes and adds a rear differential lock and the AMG Driver’s Package, which raises the limited top speed and includes attendance at an AMG ‘Power and Passion’ driver event.
The Mercedes Benz SLK 55 AMG is now available to order at all Mercedes dealers, the prices start from £54,950 on the road. As much as I would like by the car, it’s not a good idea for me as where I live, as I don't have any authorised franchises near me which provide genuine Mercedes Benz parts quickly and reasonably priced.
