Criminal Minds is the American police procedural theatre that premiered September twenty two, 2005, on CBS. The series follows any team of profilers on the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Device (BAU) operating out of Quantico, Virginia. The BAU is area of the FBI National Center for that Analysis of Violent Transgression. Criminal Minds differs from many procedural dramas by focusing on the criminal rather than the crime itself. On May 18, 2011, CBS renewed the series for just a seventh season which premiered on September 21, 2011.
CBS announced in April 2009 that Legacy Interactive will establish a video game based on the show. The game will require players to examine crime scenes for clues to help solve murder mysteries. The game is scheduled in to the future out in late 2011.
Initially, the series centered about Jason Gideon (Mandy Patinkin), Aaron Hotchner (Jones Gibson), and the rest in the Behavioral Analysis Unit, hereafter referred to since the BAU team. For the first year, that team is composed of Elle Greenaway (Lola Glaudini), Derek Morgan (Shemar Moore), Dr. Spencer Reid (Matthew Grey Gubler), Jennifer "JJ" Jareau, (AJ Cook), and Penelope Garcia (Kirsten Vangsness). When the series opened, Vangsness was not in the regular cast, appearing instead as the guest star.
During the second time of year, Greenaway left after the sixth episode and is particularly replaced in the ninth episode of that season by Emily Prentiss (Paget Brewster). At the start on the third season, Gideon departs after the other episode and is replaced several episodes later by simply David Rossi (Later on Mantegna). During the sixth season, JJ leaves after the other episode. A new character Ashley Seaver (Rachel Nichols) is introduced in Season 6. Also, later on in this sixth season, Prentiss leaves the indicate. AJ Cook returned for the show to participate with Brewster's final episode, billed as a "special guest star".
For the seventh season, it was announced which Cook signed a two year contract to come back as a series regular towards the end of the sixth season and for the beginning of the seventh season and yes it was also announced in which Brewster would actually become returning as Prentiss as being a series regular for year seven. Nichols' contract was not really extended for season eight, meaning she departed the particular cast. Moore's and Gibson's legal agreements were both renewed and their salaries were both equally raised.
