The Divide can be a post-apocalyptic science-fiction thriller picture directed by Xavier Gens and published by Karl Mueller and Eron Sheean. It stars Michael Biehn, Lauren German, Milo Ventimiglia.

Set in the the long run, the film opens with pandemonium and a chaotic sprint towards the basement of any New York apartment developing, just moments before metropolis outside is destroyed.

French filmmaker Xavier Gens made a scarlet red splash with his uber-violent and super-stylish directorial debut, Frontier(s). Encouraged by critical acclaim he's now accepting the end of days to weeks, putting The Divide in brisk company in addition to Take Shelter, Melancholia, and Another World. As it turns out there, The Divide is a smaller amount about world events, even less about history. It's just another rage-fueled, tired torture porn as much as I'm concerned, but for those who like that sort of thing - The Divide are at least a well-acted a single. Michael Biehn and Rosanna Arquette include the standouts. He's a vicious victimizer, while she is some sort of vixenish victim. Both are of the lowest order in relation to content of character, but as the movie fumbles forward, tables are turned, motives shift, and allegiances realign.

Most everyone, including the actors, agree The Divide film is a mess because they were being all reportedly given free reign not to only ad-lib but absolutely rewrite their roles whenever they wished to. Personally, I think the motion picture is more than a bit of a mess - as is generally the case when scripts tend to be played fast and loose after the cameras start rolling (just to illustrate: Rob Zombie's H2, one of the worst movies I've got ever seen, and more so the disappointment the way it comes from one of definitely the directors).

The Divide plot centers over a cache of neighbors who definitely have survived a nuclear punch and seek refuge in the basement of their apartment building. Fortunately, Mickey the maintenance guy (Michael Biehn) was paranoid due to 9/11 PTSD and stored the stronghold with dropped foods, blankets, water, restraints, and lots and a great deal of weapons. Wait. Did I say "fortunately"?

But before we arrive at all the sadistic mayhem, we meet our players, mainly consisting of a great estranged couple played by Lauren German and Ivan Gonzalez; half-brothers played by Milo Ventimiglia and Ashton Holmes; Arquette as a beaten-down individual mom, and Courtney B. Vance as a world-weary wildcard.

As the weeks move by and personalities are stripped of the niceties, a vile, vicious and mean-spirited Lord-of-the-Flies-Gens-style unfolds. They discover they've been locked inside, quarantined. They realize they are generally beyond sick, when their hair begins to loosen using their scaly scalps and blood dribbles off their mouths. There is violence, harsh words, ugliness, rape, thrashings, lies, manipulation, and murder. As the personnel work day and morphs, it's pointless to underlying for anyone or to attempt to guess who might arise victorious (especially acknowledge that the inmates were running the asylum - equally in real, and reel, life. true, we do live life without a script; but that doesn't imply movies should unfold in the same manner). Shortly into The Break down, I was fed upwards and disgusted. I actually watched the item twice, wanting to give this as fair a shake when i could. I liked it even less the next time around.
