Utilizing Keywords The Right Way for No Cost Search Engine Traffic from Google, Yahoo and Bing...

Once again it's best to play by the rules when it comes to seo, and simply do what the search engines look for in good sits. Keywords simply serve as "hooks" telling the search sites what a particular page is about, so that seekers can find it at the search sites. Overusing keywords is not providing any service to the traffic that come to your site, and therefore won't win you any favor when it comes to search engine optimization. Actually the search sites hate being mislead, so don't be surprised if your overused keyword pages get dropped from the engines, ruining your shot of increasing your free web site traffic.

Ideally you should use individuals pages focused around one primary keyword or phrase. A few other related ones can be added, but the content will naturally provide a variety of other search-able long-tail keywords and key phrases (once again a benefit of lots of content.) So focus on one, and get it right. By over delivering great informative content on the topic of one specific keyword, you will give your human visitors exactly what they are looking for, and the search sites will send an increase in visitors your way.

What is the proper number of times to use a keyword throughout your web content? Of course it depends on the length of the page, but as a rule of thumb it should be used 1-2 times per 100 words. On a short page, 250-400 words, 2-5 times should be plenty. You will also want to include the specific keyword a few other places, including a headline at the beginning of the page, a text link somewhere on the page, and of course in the page meta tags.

By over delivering great content on a specific keyword, properly placing that keyword throughout, and putting it in the other necessary spots, you will have a page that can easily win at the engines for that keyword. As the page and overall website gain credibility, usually with time and the building of backlinks, other phrases and words will get that page found as well.

O.k. so now you know how to layout the site, single pages based on specific keywords, and all the pages revolving around the basic theme of the site. But there are a few other factors for effective search engine optimization, so study and get an understand of all the basics and use them for your websites.
