Today things seem less than correct, less than secure. If people were afraid during the cold war, they're terrified now as the environment is quickly crumbling around us, threatening to flood the coasts as global warming melts massive glaciers, raising the oceans and changing weather patterns for the worse as we receive the brunt of storms the likes of Hurricane Katrina. Thank God for dating websites.
What I mean is, if all the world's going to hell, isn't it nice to know that when all hell's breaking loose, there will be someone warm and comforting waiting for you back at home? As things progress, many people have said that it's getting harder to meet people and so to get dates. Yet dating websites are a great boon to the fragmentation of our traditional social structures.
The reason why dating websites are so felicitous to modern humanity is that they provide expediency with results. They cut to the quick, in common parlance. No longer does a person have to date another person for months on end before learning that religion, spirituality (or lack thereof), or any other major socio-psychological construct will probably interfere in a smooth relationship.
This is not to say that dating websites will provide an instantaneously perfect man or woman ripe for marriage. It merely means that people can share their beliefs more readily and with less embarrassment as both parties know the exact reason that they're talking: for the purposes of dating and all that this connotates.
As well, though it is strange to say, in the distanced method of dating via the internet, very often couples find it easier -and certainly socially safer, to get personal faster and deeper than might happen in more traditional face-to-face interactions. This fact can't be overstated as the truth is that even some of the most beautiful men and women still hold deep-seated insecurities that often come out when they speak to a potential amour. Often mere nervousness can ruin a potentially great situation.
However, by means of the internet the playing ground is more evenly leveled, allowing each party to gain knowledge, trust, and familiarity with a man or woman who may prove to be "the right one." Further, by communicating in this medium, people are also more likely to be more honest, again cutting past numerous problems that would be experienced in a more traditional relationship. This is by no means meant to short-change traditional dating methods, but only to show that now there are other effective methods to dating.
